ATS Leaders Meet with NIH Institutes

This week, the ATS leadership met with directors of key NIH institutes relevant to the ATS’s research agenda. These included the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI); National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID); National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS); National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR); National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) and; National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHHD).

In each of the meetings, the ATS leaders discussed research needs in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine and strategized with the institute directors and staff about areas for collaboration. ATS President Polly Parsons, MD, said, “These meetings help further the ATS’s mission over time. They provide the ATS and our members the opportunity to engage directly with institute leadership focusing on ATS’s priorities in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.”
